Gulyás is primarily a soup, also existing as stew. The preparation of the goulash soup starts exactly the same way as of a stew but then more water is added, plus vegetables, a few carrots, parsley roots, cubed potatoes and caraway seeds. You can use chili as well if you wish.Noodles (csipetke in Hungarian) are also added according to some recipes. In Hungary goulash soup is eaten as a main dish.
Main ingredients: beef shank, onions, carrot, parsley root, potatoes, ground caraway seeds, sweet pepper, tomato, garlic, home-made pasta, paprika powder.
