Project Description

Strudel Making Class (4 hours long)

Always wanted to learn how to make the famous Hungarian strudel? Get a hands-on experience and within 4 hours become a master of apple and cottage cheese strudel. Bonus: cabbage strudel for a savory treat.

What to expect from your strudel making class?

Expect to get your hands dirty. Follow along as your chef guides you through every step of the strudel-making process, including preparing the apple, cottage cheese  filling, kneading and stretching the dough, and finally rolling the pastry with the different fillings and placing it in the oven. It is the strudel of our grandmother’s era, made by hand, completely from scratch.

You will also learn how to make the cabbage strudel for a savory treat.

The program lasts around 4 hours.

Once the class is finished taste your strudel on-site with a drink and take
home the rest with our takeaway boxes.

Immerse yourself in the culture and lifestyle of Hungary and learn to make Hungary’s iconic dessert in an informal and friendly environment.

No cooking skills are required. The strudel will be prepared with the careful guidance of your chef.

We need a minimum of 2 people to do the strudel making class.

Why choose this tour?

  • Discover the secrets of making Hungarian strudel: Learn how to make strudel from scratch and how to stretch the dough to make it parchment-thin.

  • Hands on experience. Nothing is comparable to get a hands-on experience of being in a real class with a real instructor, who coaches you on proper techniques along-with responding to your questions.

  • Cooking classes are fun!  Having fun and simply enjoying a new experience are all great reasons to enroll in a strudel making class. Whether you sign up as a couple, with your best friend or for a mother-daughter experience,  you are sure to have a few laughs.

  • It’s great chance to ask questions only a local can answer. Your instructor is a native of the area. Take advantage of our knowledge, food-related and beyond. We answer questions about the language, where to find a great cup of coffee, and which restaurants are hidden gems, not to mention which markets or other sites you should check out.

“Andrew was able to fit us in for a cooking class very last minute and we were so thankful because it was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Budapest! It was so delicious and we felt very comfortable as his directions were easy to follow. The class was held in a local home and he sent us all the recipes so we could attempt to recreate them at home!”

Linda A. from Chicago, USA

“What a great day! We decided to take a cooking class in Budapest since both of us have Hungarian roots and grew up eating the cuisine. They made it seem so easy and infused our lesson with cooking tips, info on Hungarian culture, etc. Everything was all so delicious and we can’t wait to try it at home. Definitely a must do in Budapest if you love food and/or cooking!”

Simonne F. From Los Angeles, USA

“If you’re looking for an informal and intimate cooking class this is the place. The class will be at your pace and you will definitely leave satisfied. You’ll get a true sense of how the locals live. This class is small and you never feel intimidated. Thank you Agnes for a memorable day! We left so full that we skipped dinner that night!!”
