Hungarian Cottage Cheese Spread - Körözött
This spread is a favorite in Hungary. Almost every household has a special way of making it. Main spices are ground caraway seeds that give its unique taste and sweet paprika powder for the nice orange colour.

- 1 cup dry cottage cheese or farmer's cheese
- 1/2 smaller Spanish onion
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon sweet red paprika powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground caraway seeds
Fine dice the onion.
Using a fork crumble the dry cottage cheese.
In a bowl mix together all the ingredients until evenly mixed. Let it chill for 3 to 4 hours so flavours come together.
Spread the körözött on bread or a crusty bun, serve with spring onions or tomatoes. It can be even filled in tomato peppers.
