2-hour Market & Food Tour Budapest, Central Market Hall

Dive Deep into Budapest: Unveiling the Rich Cultural & Culinary Tapestry

Want to experience as much as possible in a short space of time? Connect, talk, dine with locals. Our 2-hour market tour in Budapest provides a chance to grasp a deeper understanding of Hungarians. What and how we eat and drink. How we live. Explore what makes this community unique, how it links with the broader world. And of course, enjoy great food in the process. Just 2 hours.

Gather your friends and family and we’ll organize a private market and tasting tour just for you and your group.

What to expect on your market and food tour?

The market food tour combines a stroll through all 3 floor levels, guiding you through a food section, with opportunities for tastings, and a non-food section both of which embody the rich Hungarian heritage and culture that is expressed through foods and artifacts such as embroidery, porcelain, clothing and the arts & crafts.

Yes, we will talk a lot about food and sample the gastronomic delights of Hungary, but we also want to tell the stories behind it.  We want to share stories about our childhood, communism, our lives in Hungary, our customs, cultural and culinary traditions, our past and our present.

Be among the locals, among us. Get a better understanding of who the Hungarians are, how we live, learn about the values and beliefs of its people. What we have in common and where are the differences.

You will take the tour with your local guide at Budapest’s oldest and largest market. Bright light, rich colours from fruit and vegetables, the smell of fresh herbs and above all: stunning architecture, the Central Market Hall one of Europe’s finest market halls!

Only 2 hours, slow walking, relaxed enjoyable peace.

OUR GUEST REVIEWS

See what others say about their experience. Reviews from Culinary Hungary’s guests and customers who took our Market & Food Tour Budapest.

“The market tour was a lot of fun, Agnes spent time explaining about the things we were looking at. She had told us before coming not to have too much breakfast and this was a good thing, she organised lots of samples of food for us to try. She was very organized, the food was amazing. We thank her very much for the most memorable time in Budapest.”

Kim C. from Melbourne, Australia

“The market and tasting tour with Andrew was fantastic. Do not to eat beforehand, you will be stuffed full of delicious food by the end of the tour. They took us through all levels of the building, buying foods and explaining them to us while we tasted them. It’s one of those experiences that really sticks with you. We walked away full, happy with our delightful hosts.”

Trevor D. from Chicago, USA

“We met Agnes at the market and the next 2 hours were a blend of Hungarian delights. We tasted delicious foods, saw hand made crafts, learned about the foods that make Hungarian cuisine unique. We visited all three floors of the market and experienced a part of Budapest that many tourists never see. This is truly an experience not to be missed while in Budapest.”

Marla S. from North Caroline, USA
